The Africa Coalition for Research & Communication on Abortion (ACORCA) proudly launches its Small Grants Programme for early-career scholars advancing abortion research in Africa.

Who is Eligible?

Early-career PhD researchers (completed in last 5 years)

Current PhD candidates at dissertation stage

Affiliation with African universities or research institutes

Research must focus on abortion in Africa

Grant Details

Total Grant: $2,500 USD over 6 months

- 70% disbursed at start

- 30% upon progress report

Covered Costs:

- Data collection & travel

- Software subscriptions

- Secondary data access

- Report writing

Note: No equipment or institutional overheads will be funded.

Mentorship & Capacity Support

Each grantee will be paired with an ACORCA advisor, in addition to their home institution supervisor. They’ll also benefit from webinars, toolkits, writing workshops, and peer reviews.

Dissemination Plan

Applicants should outpne how research will reach popcy-makers, healthcare providers, CSOs, and media. Formats may include briefs, forums, pubpcations, or roundtables.
